The Carlton Housing Redevelopment, one of the largest public and private housing redevelopments in Victoria, is across 3 inner city sites in Carlton covering an area of 7.5 hectares. When completed, the redevelopment will incorporate 246 new social housing apartments, approx.. 700 new private apartments, a 136 bed aged-care facility, and approximately 180 independent living units.

Stage 9, with 110 private apartments, is the next stage of a further 5 stages that Living Carlton Consortium will be developing. Stage 9 is located in the Lygon/Rathdowne Street precinct, bounded by Princess Street to the north, Reeves Street to the south and Rathdowne Street to the east.
