The Carlton Housing Redevelopment is one of the largest public and private housing developments in victoria, and is across 3 inner city sites in Carlton covering an area of 7.5 hectares.

 

Stage 3 of the Carlton Housing Redevelopment is located in the Elgin/Nicholson Street precinct, bounded by Canning Street to the west, Palmerston Street to the north and Elgin Street to the south.

 

Stage 3 replaced 56 social housing walk-ups, which have been demolished, with 3 new buildings comprising 120 private apartments and 112 social housing apartments, all being developed for the Department of Human Services. It also included the development of an important, new public park on the site.

The first stage of the project (private housing) was completed in October 2013, with the second stage (social housing) completed in April 2014.
