Dane engineers career kick-start
ST Joseph’s College student Dane Heeps will have the opportunity to undertake the ultimate work experience.
Dane Heeps has secured a once-in-a-lifetime work experience opportunity at the Hacer Group starting this weekend. Dane was one of seven students across the state to successfully win a place in Victoria University’s Work Experience of a Lifetime program, which will allow the Year 10 and 11 students to spend a week with one of Australia’s top companies including Bonds, Nova Entertainment and the Mushroom Group.
Students showcased their career goals for entry into the competition and winners were then selected by a panel of judges.
The Mildura student will work with leading construction company Hacer Group and said he was hoping it would assist him with his goal of becoming an engineer.
“I’ll get to walk around and look at their different construction sites and sit in on their meetings,” Dane said.
“Hopefully, it will help me find a job after I finish school.”
Hacer Group director Robert Pitts said the placement would provide hands-on experience in construction management processes.
